Libby Parsons
Libby Parsons is a Canadian artist celebrated for her vibrant impressionist landscapes that capture the natural beauty of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Born in Quebec into an artistic family, Libby developed a passion for art early in life. Although she pursued a career in nursing, she maintained her artistic interests, studying fine arts, watercolour, etching, and art history.
Libby's paintings are featured in local galleries, including the Okanagan Art Gallery and Picture This. Her pieces often depict the rhythmic patterns of vines and fruit trees, the gentle hills covered in sagebrush, and the ever-changing hues of the lakes, all rendered in her unique impressionist style.
Libby's focus has been on large canvasses, vibrant colour and bold brushstrokes. These elements allow her to capture the impressionistic view of the landscape rather than a detailed rendering. She starts with a composition but at some point, the painting takes over! A blank canvas is always the start of a new adventure!
